About this Session
For anyone who designs digital products or interacts with design as part of their role and is curious about using AI in code-first workflows. No coding experience is required.
What happens when a design team leaves Figma behind and starts designing directly in code? We share our experience of building an AI-assisted, code-first workflow – and bridging the gaps that familiar design tools used to fill. From exploring ideas to maintaining design-system consistency and reviewing results in the browser, we show what changed, what proved difficult, and what infrastructure we needed to keep moving.
AI can generate interfaces quickly, but making them useful, consistent, and ready for collaboration takes more than a prompt. This session looks beyond the tools to the workflows, shared knowledge, and quality checks that support everyday design work. It’s for anyone who designs digital products or interacts with design as part of their role and is curious about using AI in code-first workflows. No coding experience is required.
What you’ll take away:
- Which gaps appear when you move beyond traditional design tools and how to address them
- How a design system can guide AI-assisted work rather than just document components
- How we use AI agents, reusable instructions (“skills”), and quality checkpoints (“gates”) to support our workflow
- Where human design judgment remains essential
- Practical starting points for experimenting with a code-first, Figma-less workflow in your own team
