About the speaker

Melissa Brigante is an American Italian psychotherapist and public speaker. She worked as a consultant for the United Nations and international humanitarian aid organizations in large scale disasters around the world.

As the first female psychologist in Turkish Red Crescent Society's history, she was deployed to the Iraqi border to set up refugee camps for possible refugee influx during the conflict. She also helped the organization build its first Psychosocial Program.

As a consultant for UNICEF in charge of the Girls' Education program, she travelled to 4700 villages in 12 cities in one year working with governors, local NGOS, media and Ministry of Education. As a result of her efforts, 17000 girls registered to school for the first time in their lives. She served as OXFAM AMERICA (OA) Humanitarian Officer after Hurricane Katrina and authored OA´s first US Contingency Plan. She is the founder of Mindset Aarhus and since 2023, she served individuals and families who are originally from 45 different countries but live in Aarhus.

She is the winner of the 2022 London Grenfell Tower Trust award for “The Best Early Intervention Psychotherapists” and the winner of Harvard University Derek Bok Public Service Award. She holds degrees from Tulane University (BSc. Pych), Brandeis University (MASID), and Harvard University (ALM).
