Who's accountable when an AI system nudges a decision nobody remembers agreeing to?
That's the question on the table **today at 3 PM CET**, when our new community [Human in the Loop](https://humanloop.community/) hosts its very first live session:
"Are we playing god at scale? Ethical AI in the minds we are building — and the minds we are reshaping."
We're not building tools anymore. We're building systems that shape how people think, choose, and behave — and reshaping our own minds in the process. If you design, manage, or engineer AI products, this is your daily work, whether you've named it or not.
The speakers
We've got a dream team for the opener:
Margarida Afonso leads large-scale AI transformation programs across Europe, is deep in PhD research on AI ethics, and lectures at the Engineering Institute in Porto. She sees both sides: what organizations actually deploy, and what the ethics research says about it.
Christian Kuhn spent years in UX teaching teams why AI products fail without real trust — and calling out the manipulative patterns baked into a lot of AI design. Expect him to name things most product teams would rather not look at.
The format: you're not just watching
A short keynote, then an open discussion round. Everyone in the room gets to jump in — share what you think, push back, bring the messy real-world cases from your own product work. Bring your questions, or just be ready for some new input.
This is what Human in the Loop sessions will look like: small enough to speak, honest enough to matter.
How to join
The session is free and happens inside the community. Two steps:
- Join Human in the Loop — it's free and only takes a minute.
- Find the session in the "Live Events" section and be there at 3 PM CET.
And if you can't make it today: this is the first session in a regular program of live talks, workshops, and open sessions. Join now and you won't miss the next one — early members also get our upcoming premium tier included for an extended period.
See you and looking forward to having you in the loop.
