Human-Centric Design at Scale: The UX NORDIC Award 2026 Finalists & Contenders

What Defines Truly Great UX in 2026?

User experience has evolved beyond intuitive interfaces and pleasing UI. Today, exceptional UX lies at the intersection of methodological rigor, ethical responsibility, and measurable real-world outcomes.

The UX NORDIC Award 2026 honors products and digital services that place the user at the center of the design journey—from early research through to final execution. Evaluated across three core dimensions (Process & Method, Solution, and Results), this year’s participants demonstrate how design can solve systemic societal and business challenges.

Below, we feature our three shortlist finalists alongside an inspiring cohort of Honorable Mentions.

To view jury details and learn more about the ceremony in Copenhagen, head over to the official Future Product Days Award Page.

Ocean Matcher
by REV Ocean & NoA Ignite

The Problem:
Ocean research is chronically underfunded—not due to a lack of quality projects, but because philanthropists and conservationists operate in silos with fragmented communication.

The Solution:
Ocean Matcher is a global matchmaking platform powered by semantic AI. Funders describe their strategies in natural language, while LLMs match them against ocean projects based on intent rather than simple keywords.

The UX Focus:
Designed in dark mode to mirror the ocean depths (and reduce display power consumption), the interface translates complex match metrics into a universally intuitive visual "fuel gauge".

Results:
Launched at UNOC3, the platform has registered 840+ global projects, engaged 40+ international philanthropists, and directly facilitated real-world conservation grants.

:t-rex:
by With Company

The Problem:
Standard automated tools test code bugs or carbon footprints in isolation, but fail to evaluate whether a digital product is truly inclusive, sustainable, or responsible.

The Solution:
:t-rex: is a holistic product assessment framework evaluating digital platforms across five strategic axes: Inclusive Design, Sustainable Design, Digital Wellbeing, Community Impact, and Trust & Transparency.

The UX Focus:

Combining automated scanning with expert manual review, :t-rex: converts complex regulatory frameworks (such as the EU Accessibility Act) into scored radar reports and prioritized implementation roadmaps.

Results:
Proven in major transformations like Portugal’s Via Verde mobility platform and Porto’s Balcão Digital, driving measurable increases in accessibility and conscious user journeys.

Skouta by Fika Design Co.

The Problem:
Over 2 million non-Swedish speakers living in Sweden face a language barrier when official public authorities publish emergency, weather, or transit alerts strictly in Swedish.

The Solution:
Skouta is a real-time mobile application that aggregates public alerts from official Swedish authorities and delivers them in plain English and Swedish.

The UX Focus:
Built on a philosophy of autonomy rather than alarmism, Skouta features a sacred, ad-free alert feed, clear source attribution, and a human-reviewed translation quality pipeline.

Results:
Addresses an urgent civic gap for 21% of Sweden’s population, backed by a pre-launch validation study showing ~95% translation accuracy on official safety communications.

Honorable Mentions: Excellence in Experience Design

Every submission to the UX NORDIC Award 2026 reflected a high commitment to human-centered design principles. We proudly recognize the following projects:

  • Play Your Talent (Redesigned by The Norm by Coherent Solutions): A complete overhaul of an enterprise talent assessment tool, transforming a static assessment into an engaging, self-sustaining talent journey that bridges generational workforce gaps and reduces employee turnover.
  • BackOp (by CFDP, KOLLAB & Openminds): A safe digital community platform built specifically for young people aged 13–25. Designed without algorithmic feeds or addictive notifications, it combines peer host warmth with adult moderation to foster genuine belonging.
